TOWN MEETINGS |
"MERGER MANIA"
The world of telecommunications is expanding...or is it contracting? Every day we see new technologies, new services, new applications. But it seems that as a result of mergers, joint ventures, and partnerships, these services are being provided by an ever decreasing number of mega-organizations. Is it really a matter of synergy? Do "economies of scale" really apply? In this Town Meeting we will hear from several companies that have formed such joint ventures and have taken part in huge mergers. "How Come?" will be our question. "Why did you do it? Who will benefit?" And we hope to get the answers.
This Town Meeting will be moderated by Robert E. Stoffels and consist of a panel representing several major telecommunications companies who have recently experienced significant mergers. Mr. Stoffels is the former editor of "America's Network" (formerly TE&M) the industry's leading technology-focused trade publication. Mr. Stoffels is presently serving on the Board of Directors of the National Exchange Carrier Association (NECA).

The aim of the discussion will be to identify the critical factors that need to be included in forecasts of Internet growth.
This Town Meeting will be moderated by Padmanabhan Srinagesh, Principal of Charles River Associates Incorporated.
